THE PAEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY SOCIETY (PPS)

The Paediatric Pathology Society (PPS), started in 1955 as the Paediatric Pathology Club, is composed of pathologists who specialise in or have a major interest in the pathology of the fetus, neonate or child. The Society exists to promote paediatric pathology in its widest sense, embracing all the disciplines of pathology, but most members are now Histopathologists. Membership is largely European, reflecting the origins of the Society, but is open to those from anywhere in the world.

The Society runs an Annual Scientific Meeting, with meetings generally happening in Europe. Donations to the Society have enabled the institution of a guest lecture - The John Emery Lecture - at the annual meeting and the Norman Brown Award is given for the best presentation by a junior member or guest.

Please note that this site is www.paedpath.org, not to be confused with www.pedpath.org, which is our journal website.

2012 Annual Meeting Abstracts
Abstract submissions for this year's PPS Annual Meeting in Madrid, October 25th to 27th 2012, are now open.

As for last year, abstracts are limited to 250 words and the deadline for submissions is midnight (BST) on the 1st June 2012.

Beware: the word limiter sometimes counts carriage returns as words. So, if you're pushing the limit, try taking out any unnecessary white space in your abstract. Or trim off a few words....

Athens 2011 Annual Meeting - CANCELLATION
articles: ppslogo.gifDear Registrants for the Annual PPS Meeting,

I am very sorry to announce that the 57th Annual PPS meeting in Athens 20 to 22 October has been cancelled. An air traffic controllers strike is expected on Wednesday and Thursday which will seriously disrupt all air traffic to and from Athens. The local organizers, the PPS Committee, President, Secretary and Treasurer feel we cannot take the responsibility to have the PPS meeting in Athens under such circumstances. This is an unforeseen happening and we have to do the best we can to limit all implications this will have for the Society and for all of us.

The local organizers will work with the issue of limiting the financial consequences. A letter to all members registered for the meeting will be sent out by the local organizers. Our sympathies and thanks go to Tania who has worked so hard for this meeting.

I am very sorry and upset about this, but since these are events which are out of our control, there is not much we can do except to be constructive and try to find the best solution for everybody.

From Christina Vogt on behalf of Ronald de Krijger, Marie-Anne Brundler, Tania Konstantinidou and all PPS Committee members.

Standing Order Change Required for 2012 Subscriptions

Dear Colleagues,

As you may have read in the recent newsletters, I had to open new accounts because we were unable to transfer the existing accounts. Also, I will be closing the account with the Scottish Clydesdale bank.

It is therefore imperative that you cancel your existing standing order and set up a new standing order, as per attached letter. Alternatively, you can pay your annual subscription through our website, once we give the go ahead for 2012. This continues to be free of charge. For those of you who do online banking and decide to make a (direct) electronic payment to our account, please ensure that you cover any charges this could encur (notably for members currently living outside the UK).

Standing Order Form

Many thanks in advance for your timely cooperation.

Marie-Anne Brundler, Honorary Treasurer PPS
